SWIC dual credit WILL STILL BE AVAILABLE for this course, even though we are away from school. Students must keep working toward fulfilling the requirements and objectives for this dual credit course. I have been contacting and will continue to call parents/guardians regarding information that I received from the college during a conference call I participated in on 3/27, but feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. See the 3/31-4/10 plans above for more information on eLearning directions.

Students had been given the task of writing each day during the first phase of the shelter in place order. I want them to continue doing this through Monday, and then I am asking them to shift their focus to The Great Gatsby. Before we began learning remotely, we had been working on using literature circles to improve reading comprehension. Now students will be putting those skills to use as they read and write about The Great Gatsby. Many students already had copies of this book, and for those who did not, they were able to borrow one of my copies. Although I asked students to bring those books home with them just in case, they can still get into the school to access their lockers during the school day if they need to do so. There is also an online link to the book here. This link as well as other resources for this book are located on the 3/31-4/13 plans above.

Since our yearbook creation software is Internet-based, I am asking students to continue working on their assigned pages for the high school yearbook. At this time, too, I specifically will be asking each student to chip in as we make a push for collecting senior materials for the Class of 2020 pages. I am staying in close contact with our Jostens representative regarding what this school closure means for production deadlines, and the company has been incredibly helpful and responsive. Additionally, I am in the process of gaining remote access to our photos that are stored on the school’s network so that I can upload those to our yearbook software and students can utilize them from home.
