Course Description
The course includes the concepts and terminology of software and skills related to creating web pages. Students learn the basic design principles for creating a web site, HTML coding, Microsoft FrontPage, and Macromedia Dream Weaver. Students will learn the steps for creating web pages in each of the three methods above, create pages from scenarios, and work with a local business to create a web site. Content will also include working with digital images

Course Objectives/Goals

  • Students will demonstrate the basic principles of Web Design.
  • Students will use digital cameras and software to take and manipulate digital images.
  • Students will use HTML coding to create web pages.
  • Students will use Microsoft FrontPage to create web pages.
  • Students will use Macromedia Dream Weaver to create web pages.
  • Students will design pages from scenarios on handouts.
  • Students will design original web pages based on a Requirements Document.
  • Students will use presentation and multimedia software to design, create, import data/graphics/scanned images/sound/video, edit, format, sequence, and produce presentations.
  • Students will use sound web design principles and web page software to create and modify web sites for individuals and organizations.
  • Students will have basic understanding of the history of Internet, web design and HTML.

Teaching Methods
The course is taught through lecture, readings, group work, presentations and discussion of concepts and current computer news items. Students apply the concepts on the computer when doing problems and exercises.
