Course Description
This second level course is designed to provide students with advancement beyond the basics learned in Spanish I. Additionally, this course prepares students to successfully take a junior college or first year university Spanish course.

Course Objectives/Outline

To increase and improve vocabulary, spelling, writing and speaking by learning
Activities of an Hispanic household
Family relationships and traditions
Various sports, physical activities and their role in Hispanic society
Travel knowledge and travel activities
Winter sports activities
Health and the doctor
To continue knowledge of Hispanic culture and famous Hispanic people and their contributions to the world through
Student presentations
Chapter cultural information
Famous Hispanics posters
To learn to use the imperative verb mood
To learn to use past and imperfect tenses
To learn to use present progressive and past participle
To learn when to use para or por
To learn to pronouns as objects of prepositions, as direct objects and as indirect objects
To learn antonyms

Enrichment

Students will have quarterly opportunities to present Hispanic topics and information of their own choosing
Seasonal information packets will be used to teach Hispanic celebrations and traditions
Caroling through the school
Sharing Hispanic food and recipes
Attend the annual SIU-C Foreign Language Day
Attend a professional cultural performance
