Course Description

Physical Education offers students an opportunity to enhance the capabilities of both their mind and bodies. Healthy minds and bodies are basic to academic success and, in later life, enhance the ability to contribute to a productive work environment. Students overall fitness, skill enhancement and affective (social) skills will be emphasized.

Course Objectives/Goals

  • Students will use activities to improve overall fitness.
  • Students will use activities to improve skills with object manipulation and skills that do not involve object manipulation.
  • Students will demonstrate proper etiquette when playing various games.
  • Students will demonstrate knowledge of rules and strategies throughout the course.

Teaching Methods

This class is taught through demonstration, lecture, and student experimentation.

Assessment

  • Student participation which includes physical effort, mental effort and proper dress.
  • Quizzes and tests, which may include matching, true/false, and multiple choice questions and score sheets.
  • Skills tests.
  • Physical Fitness Test.
