Course Description

This course provides student opportunities to develop knowledge and understanding of textiles, fashions, and fabrics. The course teaches construction, altering, and repairing clothing through hands on laboratory experience. Information and experiences provide students with an understanding of the psychological aspects of fabric products related to the needs of people. Careers related to clothing and textiles are also explored throughout this course. Copies from the textbooks Clothing: Fashion, Fabrics and Construction and Successful Sewing are used to enhance this course.

Assessment

 The class is taught through lecture, discussion, and laboratory experience. Students will be tested over the written material and their projects will also count as test scores. Students will receive participation points for the days working in the lab. Students will make sleep pants, a blanket/pillow and a 3rd project of their choice.
