Course Description:
American History is a required course at the junior level. The class is a survey of American history from pre-Columbian times through the current year. The course is taught in chronological order with emphasis on the American Revolution, the Civil War, World Wars I & II, the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War.

Teaching Methods:
- This class is taught through lecture, discussions, guided readings, analyzing primary source documents, projects, presentations, and map work
- Through out the semester films are shown. Students use critical analysis to discover accuracy of the films. Also, films are used for creative thinking skills.
Films include: It’s a Wonderful Life, The Wizard of Oz, Pearl Harbor, Band of Brothers, My Japan, Duck and Cover, The Butter Battle Book, Remember the Titans
- Students also analyze song lyrics to clarify emotions and the feelings of a certain era
Songs include: Follow the Drinkin Gourd, Hello Dolly, Time’s is Gettin’ Harder, We Didn’t Start the Fire, The Time’s They are Changin’, Universal Soldier, I’d Love to Change the World, Ohio, Fortunate Son, Ball of Confusion and Get Together
