Scholarships
  • Check out the bulletin board for new scholarships from the Elks Foundation, Egyptian Electrip Coop, AXA Achievement Awards and the National Security Agency.
  • SIU-Carbondale is hosting and Open House on Sat. April 21. See the bulletin board for registration information. This is a good time for undecided seniors to visit or for juniors to start looking at colleges. 

  • The Sons of the Confederate Veterans of Illinois scholarship is now available. To be eligible you must be able to document that you are a descendant of a male who served honorably in the Army, Navy, Judicial, Executive, or Civil Service of the Confederate States of America. 

  • Information is available concerning the Southern Illinois Health Care Summer Internship Program. Check the bulletin board for more information. 

  • Students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to apply for the Best Buy Scholarship. Apply online at www.bestbuy-communityrelations.com 

  • The National Defense Transportation Scholarship is now available. Check the bulletin board for details. 

  • The American Legion provides information concerning scholarships on a computer disc called “Need a Lift” anyone who would like to look at this disc should contact Mrs. North or go online to www.needalift.org

  •  Egyptian Telephone Cooperative is sponsoring one high school junior to participate in a 4 day tour of Washington DC in June. If your parents or grandparents have an Egyptian Telephone exchange you might qualify to apply. See the bulletin board for details.

  • The Illinois PTA is sponsoring scholarships for students entering the field of education. See the bulletin board.

  •  AMVETS and AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary are sponsoring scholarships. Check out the details on the bulletin board.

  • Seniors- You should be checking the counselor’s bulletin board frequently. There are several postings for local scholarships now. Have you picked up the Arthur Werre form? How about the Steeleville JayCees? Deadlines are coming up!
  • New scholarships are posted, look for the following: St. Clement Community Foundation Scholarship for health care fields. Future Accounting Professional Scholarship Program for careers in accounting. Western Egyptian Economic Opportunity Council Scholarship SAMMY- Got Milk?   • There are also flyers concerning a College Fair at SWIC on Feb. 26th from 1:30 to 3:30 and a Nursing Open House at SIU- C on March 24.
  • Seroirs- remember that the Artur Werre Scholarship forms should be returned to Mrs. North by Thursday.
  • The Boynton-Gillespie Memorial Scholarship forms are available from the counselor. This scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years. The deadline to apply is April 1.
  • Scholarship applications are available for the Betsey Gimber Scholarship, Steeleville Ducks Unlimited Scholarship and the Dustin Olson Scholarship. See the bulletin board for more details.
